Local First Spotlight
Abundant Blessings Thrift Shop
Here at Pennian Bank, we are committed to supporting
organizations that make our communities a better place to live and work. Our
Local First Program was designed with that in mind; to encourage support of
local organizations from friends and neighbors.
This program allows Pennian Bank customers to designate
eligible checking or savings accounts to participating nonprofit organizations.
Donations are made by the bank each quarter to organizations with 20 or more
supporters. These donations are calculated based on the average balance in the
customers’ accounts.
Today we are featuring one of our Local First Organizations
and how the program has made a difference for them.
Organization: Abundant Blessings Thrift Shop
Location: 22 Abundant Blessing Drive, Mifflintown
Mission: Provide Faith-based support for neighbors at home
and abroad.
Local First Organization Since: 2020
Donations from the program: Two quarterly donation checks,
totaling over $1000
“We are excited and grateful to be a part of Pennian Bank’s
Local First Program,” says Michelle Brubaker, Administrator for Abundant
Blessings. “It has been an extreme blessing to provide faith-based funds for
our neighbors here and abroad. We plan to use the funds generated by the Local
First Program right here in our community, in addition to the 20% that the
thrift shop reserves for giving. It is our desire to give back to those in need
in addition to providing quality items for resale in our community. We are
grateful to everyone that contributes to the store either by donating or making
purchases and for those that volunteer their time and talents.”
