Employees in the Community

Pennian Bank encourages its employees to be actively involved in the communities where we live and work. For this blog we’ve chosen to feature an employee who continues to go above and beyond to volunteer her time to various organizations in her community.
Employee: Stacy Durbin
Location/Position: Relationship Banker at the West Shore Office
How long with Pennian: 1 year
Volunteer Organization Participation:
- West Shore Foundation - Board of Directors
- Autism in Classrooms - Distribution Coordinator
- Dangerous Damsels - Volunteer Self Defense Instructor
- Harrisburg Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - Volunteer Children's Instructor
- Harrisburg Young Professionals - Outreach Committee Volunteer
- Conference for Women - Advisory Board Member

Why Does She Volunteer: “Ever since I was a young girl and as long as I can remember, I have always had a passion for inspiring warmth and kindness in people. Volunteering allows me to be part of something bigger than myself. No matter where I am in life it will always be important to me to be engaged in programs that create positivity in my local community. I know that I can’t change the world, but I love to think that somehow I am making some sort of impact in my little corner of the earth. That is why I am drawn to volunteerism.”
Biggest Challenge: Finding enough time to volunteer for the organizations I love so much. Pennian Bank (alongside my grandmother) has been one of my biggest cheerleaders and is 100% behind me in my community efforts. This helps to ease that challenge tremendously.
Most Rewarding Aspect: “Seeing people smile makes my day! I also love getting hugs, real hugs; the kind that let me know I have made a meaningful impression in a person’s life, as much as they have in mine.”
